Above, an unused version of the design, with a blank back, and the words “Private Post Card” on the front. The attribution line with the words “Entered According to Act of Parliament of Canada in the year 1898 by The Toronto Lithographing Co. Limited, at the Department of Agriculture” is printed in a light coloured ink to the right bottom edge of the card. “Toronto Lith Co. Ltd.” is printed at the left of the card in the bottom corner. This may be an example of the first issuance of this design.


Below, a second example, without the the “Private Post Card” text, but with similar attribution text. This card bears a QV Numeral 3¢ stamp with a 2 CENTS Provisional overprint, (no. 88) tied to the card by a Quebec August 28, 1899 duplex cancel, 4 weeks after the earliest reported date of the Provisional issue. The card has been mailed to Hildesheim, Germany, and has a Hildesheim receiver dated September 7, 1899.
