The Toronto Lithographing Co. Limited overprinted a number of their different postcards with the gold text “WISHING YOU A Merry Christmas AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR.”
The date of the first instance of this overprint seems to be the holiday season of 1902. The cards seem to be used on subsequent occasions in the years that follow, suggesting that people may have bought excess cards when they were first issued, and more likely, that Toronto Litho Co. re-issued these cards in subsequent holiday seasons.
